Pine Release Notes

                                  Version 4.20
                            University of Washington

Pine(c) is the University of Washington's "Program for Internet News and
Email". It is intended to be an easy-to-use program for sending,
receiving, and filing Internet electronic mail messages and bulletin
board (Netnews) messages. There are versions that will run on many
different flavors of the Unix� operating system, as well as a version
with GUI amenities for 32-bit flavors of Microsoft Windows (95, 98, and
NT).

NEW IN PINE 4.20

Version 4.20 is an evolutionary release that introduces new functionality
and fixes numerous bugs. The list of changes includes:

 *  Color support
     +  general screen, titlebar, key labels, etc
     +  text associated with user-defined headers in message view
     +  quoted text in message view
 *  Role's notion of pattern can now be applied to other actions:
     +  index line color
     +  filtering
     +  scoring
 *  Role's notion of pattern enhanced to match:
     +  in all of message text
     +  by recipient
     +  by participant
     +  by current folder type (which may be a specific folder)
     +  by message score
 *  Email list participation headers recognized
 *  Role (#) command availability similar to normal Compose
 *  Feature enabling offer to delete all messages from newsgroups on exit
    (aka "catch up")
 *  Feature extending Take command to include Rule creation
 *  set of reply-indent/signature/role-template tokens expanded
 *  requirement for backslash quoting in signatures relaxed
 *  improved url/web-hostname recognition
 *  mailcap parameter substitution is disabled by default (hidden
    "enable-mailcap-param-substitution" feature restores it)
 *  improved Pico's sentence ending space preservation
 *  Help Text improvements
 *  Sizable performance improvement in Unix format mail handling
 *  Numerous bug fixes
